Viktor shrugs, completely unbothered. “A probability, actually. Although Dr. Reveck assured me that it would be mild.”
“Mild insatiable bloodlust?!?”
“Yes. He did not provide many details, but he appears to be using this strain of shimmer to engineer some sort of lupine creature with astounding abilities. Apparently the creature is driven to near madness by the smell and taste of blood.”
Jayce swallows down the saliva that keeps flooding his mouth. “Huh.”OR

When Viktor blinks himself awake one morning with a distinct sense of wrongness he attributes it first to the immediate awareness that he is in Jayce's bedroom. In Jayce's bed. He knows exactly the contents of his desk and how the paintings are hung on his walls. And he knows for certain the rich scent of Jayce filling his lungs.
It takes him an additional minute after waking to realise where the sense of wrongness actually comes from.
When he stumbles to the mirror, it feels like he might be looking through it. Into the living room. Into some other part of the apartment. Because his mind simply cannot process what he's seeing otherwise.
The face staring back at him isn't his own. It's Jayce's.

The very first time Jayce and Viktor share a mattress, they agree it is just a matter of practicality: they arrive early in the morning and leave late at night on most days, and more often than not at least one of them falls asleep at the workbench, resulting not only in horrible back aches, but also an equally horrible mood.
That works for a while at least, until they start getting into pointless arguments more days than not and no work ends up getting done by the end of the week.
So it's really only logical that they get a mattress to shove in a corner for overnight stays.
