Tentatively, he shifted until he could manoeuvre a hand up to stroke his fingers through Scott’s hair. Scott made an almost inaudible noise and burrowed closer, and Jimmy thought—he kept his hand brushing softly across the back of Scott’s head, combing his hair out of his face, careful not to wake him. He thought he’d just been a bit overwhelmed, yesterday, with Scott deciding they were married, and with everything that had happened after, but it was nice that they could be together.

He was just looking at Wilbur now and Wilbur could feel his throat constricting with anxiety. What was he supposed to say to that?
He wasn’t prepared for this kind of vulnerability and he certainly didn’t deserve it, not from Quackity. Not when they had gone out of their way to get under each other’s skin so many times, clawing at each other’s exposed wounds until they bled.
And here Quackity was, willingly handing over fragile parts of himself that he shouldn’t be trusting Wilbur’s clumsy touch with.Or, everything is a little complicated and liquor helps.

Things become more and more complicated as the war rages, everyone in Tommy’s life seems to be lying about one thing or the other, and the thumps from the very top floor of the Minecraft house seem to get louder every time Tommy stops by.

or, right after getting fired from his job, Wilbur runs into an old... something, from high school. Wilbur likes to think he's changed since he last saw Quackity. That things between them can be better this time.

Summary
Through it all, Quackity can’t read Tubbo’s expression. Which is a way to read Tubbo itself, because here’s the thing – Tubbo misleads. He does it, subtly, in the way that makes you think you’re following, that you’ve caught what he’s covering up, but that’s the part he does on purpose. He leaves you a crumb, and you latch onto it, eat it up, and he acts like you’ve caught him. And Quackity watches Tubbo laugh, watches him crack a joke with Wilbur, and he knows better than to think he’s caught anything about Tubbo.
It’s what makes Tubbo such a good leader. It’s what makes him a good spy.
It’s what makes Quackity know that neither of them have left Manberg. Not all the way.
