Hell’s Bells Botanicals was the most successful flower shop in all of London and in no way could that success be attributed to excellent customer service or the owner being the sort of chap who was friends with everyone.
In fact, Hell’s Bells Botanicals was the most successful flower shop in all of London DESPITE having the worst customer service imaginable and an owner that obviously enjoyed making every moment in his shop as unpleasant as possible.
Anthony J Crowley was surly and ill mannered, impatient with potential customers and downright aggravating with repeat customers, and underwent transactions as if it irked him to his very soul to sell the plants he raised.
Hell’s Bells Botanicals was the best, its owner quite literally the worst, and seeing as how Crowley had been around since the dawn of time and had seen any and everything the world had to offer, he didn’t see anything about his attitude changing anytime soon.
But then the empty bookshop across the way was purchased by a blonde man in an old fashioned sort of suit jacket, and life as Crowley knew it changed quite a bit.

Things seem almost perfect, until one day the empty shop across the street is leased to frumpy fellow Oxford alumni, who doesn't seem to remember Crowley nearly as well as he remembers him, which really shouldn't bother him as much as it does - it was ten years ago after all, and it wasn't even that good of a kiss.

Summary
Crowley, acting as a teacher at a prestigious university, is informed by Hastur that there is an angel hiding on campus. The Angel, Aziraphale, is disguised as a librarian. Crowley is sent to eliminate the threat, only to find a hapless man with white-blond hair and a very human appearance.
Taken aback by the very human angel, Crowley finds himself becoming fascinated with the man, who seems to be completely unaware of his true identity. When Gabriel arrives to check up on Aziraphale, and to later return him to Heaven, Crowley is faced with a dilemma: should he interfere with Gabriel to keep Aziraphale with him on Earth? Or should he allow this new interest in his life to be taken back, never to see Crowley again?

Aziraphale was always... Aziraphale. There wasn't another word in the world that suited him as much as his own name. Aziraphale carried himself with dignity and grace—too much for any twenty-two year old, as far as Crowley was concerned. But he had always been like that, even when they were kids in the sandbox. Where Crowley was tall and sharp, Aziraphale was short(er) and soft. His curly hair was so blond that it looked white in certain lights, and he had the bluest eyes Crowley had ever seen. He spoke sweetly, pronouncing every syllable with careful precision as if reading from one of his favorite books, and he seldom swore.
And Crowley was in love with him.
