Recall this scene at the beginning of Season 2, Episode 3: Crowley smooth talks Muriel (“you can only tell if people are in love by waiting a few days”) to buy Aziraphale and him more time to wiggle out of their Maggie and Nina predicament. Aziraphale’s composure falters while he stares at Crowley – his eyes scan up and down as he releases an audible breath. What could he be thinking about (besides the obvious)? Suppose he’s flashing back to a night in 1986, when one of Crowley’s chivalrous rescues left him overwhelmed with feelings.
