"What can kill us?" Regulus asked, watching Sirius take a lock of their mother's black hair in his hand very gently, tie it in a little knot, then rip it from her scalp in one brutal movement. He tucked her hair in his pocket.

Summary
In 1976, James finds Regulus in an abandoned farmhouse with a lit match in his hand. Regulus is an unrepentant arsonist with dead eyes and a penchant for pressing all the wrong buttons inside of James. James is the most well-liked boy in town, with a picture perfect life and a relationship with God that makes him want to crawl on his hands and knees repenting for having thought the wrong thing too loudly.
For the next six years, they make each other’s lives hell.
In 1982, they’re on the run together and wanted for murder. James should feel worse about it than he does. Mostly, all he feels is: free, and stupidly fucking happy.

In December 1962, a dark wizard in the early stages of his quest for immortality, heard tell of the ‘Deathly Hallows’. His search for these items led him to the estate of the Potter Family, the last living descendants of the Peverelle brothers.
He did not find the Hallows. What he did find was a two-year-old boy in the care of an elderly house elf.
What he did to that boy changed the course of his life forever.
The use of the cruciatus curse on children under five can have very curious effects.

Regulus draws the fabric tighter around his shoulders. “There is no need. I am fine.”
Oh, and James knows that tone all too well. Sirius shares this mulish stubbornness. He knows he could argue himself bluer than Regulus’s lips and not win this argument, so he does not bother to try.
James crosses the small space to where the prince is curled against the cave wall and drops down beside him.
“What do you think you are doing?” Regulus demands in a squeak that’s not very princely.
“Saving your life.”
