This wasn’t right, Tommy knew that. It was Friday night. He should have been at home by now, getting popcorn ready for the movie night he always had with his family. He was supposed to be nagging Wilbur about why they shouldn’t watch whatever stupid movie he wanted to watch because he just knew it would be a horrible movie, probably another rom-com. Techno should have been in the kitchen making drinks for everyone while Phil was ordering pizza, and leaning against the counter. Tommy could see the picture so clearly in his mind.
Not alone in an alleyway, probably on the edge of death's door.

Reading had always been an escape for Tommy Innes.
So quickly he was able to immerse himself into a world where things were straightforward, where he could be himself without worrying about judgment. Where he could imagine himself going on wild adventures, alongside characters that he loved. He could find himself in a world that didn’t exist outside of those pages, sheltered from the harsh realities of his own world.
There was no doubt Tommy felt more comfortable in the far corner of The Crow's Nest between the trash can (always stocked with his own granola bars) and the nearly empty shelf housing a lovely little spider he named Shroud.

The realization that he was living a second life didn't take Tommy long to come to.
No, that was a lie. That was a massive fucking lie. It took 4 months and 19 days, as well as far too many dreams of pasts lives, as well as too many late nights doing research.
Realizing that he was once Theseus, someone he learned was loved, cared for, and had a family, that hurt. Having once had something to live for, now he had nothing, passed from family to family with little more than a small bag in hand and a vague memory of a man he could only recognize by the color of his hair.
