He couldn't stand by while Langa pushed himself to these unimaginable heights. He couldn't watch while Langa maimed himself trying to compete with people way outside his league. He couldn’t lose another friend.
It was at that moment that Reki realized he couldn't be the supportive friend on the sidelines. There was only one thing he could do.
He left.In the aftermath of Langa's race against Joe, Reki realizes he can't support Langa's dangerous habit. So he decides to leave skateboarding, and Okinawa for good.
