Summary
It’s been 10 years since Vecna's downfall, and the party has all but split. Dustin’s got a gig in aerospace, Lucas and Max finally got married, Mike’s made a name for himself as the best author to come out of Indiana, and Will’s busy illustrating for fantasy novels, as content with his life as he could be, all things considered.
That is, until he feels goosebumps on the back of his neck.
When the party’s past comes back to haunt them, it's up to a group of outcasts to save the world, again. Just like the good old days.
Because life can never leave well enough alone.

Mike is waiting for Will in the basement, a look of suspicious, nervous excitement on his face. He cleared the table and laid out upon it are two card games.
"Now, I know you’ll resist," Mike blurts out, stepping toward him. "But I think this will be good. For both of us! For when we... you know,” Mike trails off, “When we get partners.”
Will scoffs, stepping closer to inspect the titles.
Spill or Sip and Truth, Dare, or Strip.
Or: Mike suggests a spicy card game to help Will loosen up before college. It works a little too well, and suddenly they’re gambling with unresolved feelings, and clothes, that were meant to stay in place.

Summary
“I just… I want to be able to take you somewhere, alright? Then we'll go for a drive, and I have something else planned.” He hesitates for half a second. Then, softer, “let me take care of my wife.”
Will makes a small, startled sound, and then he’s laughing, hiccupping a bit from the force of it. “Your what?” Will manages, breathless, grinning despite himself.
Behind him, Mike’s smiling, he can feel it, the way it presses warm and bright into his shoulder. “My wife,” Mike repeats, even though he's tensing a little like he's nervous Will is going to turn him down.
or, It's Will's birthday and Mike's planned the whole day for him, like a good boyfriend should. Will's a lot more focused on the fact that Mike keeps referring to him as his wife, though.

Summary
Point was, Mike Wheeler liked to be needed.
And Will Byers?
Well…
Will swallows, eyes focused pointedly on Mike’s long, slender fingers. The way they twist and they pull, fixing the broken strap to Will’s backpack.
Will Byers loved when Mike fixed things for him.
It was becoming a problem.
He didn’t mean to start doing it, but it just… happened. Maybe he was using Mike’s kindness against him, but it was difficult not to, and Will couldn’t feel too badly about it when Mike looked down at him with lidded eyes, one hand dragging up along Will’s side, voice sweet. “Better?”
“Yeah,” Will murmurs, grabbing the bag with trembling fingers. “Yeah, it’s better.”
Or, Will comes up with a plan that could benefit the both of them. Mike gets to be a hero in every day life, and Will? He gets to have Mike's attention.

Only when they had reached the gardens did the grip finally release. He rubbed his wrist as he looked up to find none other than Mike Wheeler looking at him in frustration and worry. Will could tell it was mainly in worry. His eyebrows were drawn tight, the line of his mouth firm, eyes glowing in the lantern’s gold light.
“Your Highness,” he said quietly, trying to steady his breathing, “what were you thinking?”
A tremor slipped into his voice. “You could have been hurt.”
In the golden kingdom of Istathia, princes are meant to marry for politics, not for love. But when Prince Will is forced into an alliance marriage to end a war, he finds himself torn between the duty he was born into, and the boy who took his heart the moment Will saw him.
