When the diary was destroyed, the soul piece residing in it was set free and merged with the next biggest piece.
When the ring was destroyed—
Well, let's just say that Dumbledore had done a pretty bad job at it, and that Tom, wraith or not, was not about to complain about it, especially not when he was still linked to Dumbledore's life force, growing stronger as the curse slowly did its job.
Then Dumbledore had the nerve to die early.
Trust him to fuck over Tom's life one last time.

Summary
It’s what betrays her as not quite right, Tom thinks, just how alive she looks.
Her eyes are always sparkling, her lips twisted in a blinding grin, her curls flying in every possible direction as if they can’t remember what gravity is, like they’re not bound by it, she’s a kaleidoscope of features that would have seemed a bit strange on their own only to create a mesmerizing and impossible result.
Harry is beautiful, impossibly beautiful and beautifully impossible.
Sometimes Tom just wishes that she was a little more real.

Summary
Maybe it’s always meant to begin with water, maybe it’s always meant to begin with a tree. There was water at the feet of Yggdrasil, lazily dribbling between the roots, and it might not have formed a pool but there had been ponds all the same.
Ragnarök will one day come.
It’s in a pool that Sherlock realises that Ragnarök never was a faceless concept, it’s in a pool that Sherlock meets Jim. It’s in a pool that the end of the world begins.
“Jim Moriarty, hi.”

“You look like an idiot,” he says, shoving his hands inside his pocket in an effort to keep them warm. He kicks a pebble and watches with satisfaction as it flies, lands, and continues rolling until it falls into the lake. Sherlock wishes he could get rid of all of his problems this way, he wishes he could push Jim in and see him vanish in the ripples. Maybe the other would, and that’s why he doesn’t do it, he’s barely sure that Jim is real as it is.
