The plan.
Eddie has been planning for the majority of his life. Meal prep for the week, rigid gym schedules, biweekly meetings, trackers, calendar notifications. He’s so goddamn sick of planning, he thought.
But this one. This plan, the one where Richie asked Eddie to fuck off to California with him and Eddie said yes, feels different.

Summary
Eddie announces his intentions to leave Hawkins soon. Everything he cares about thrown into the back of his van, nasty-ass mattress included. No destination, he tells them, just the open road and Hawkins in his rear view.
Steve doesn’t know what possesses him to invite himself along. It’s a crazy plan to take on alone, first of all.
But there’s more than that. The appeal of the road hits him suddenly, hand in hand with the realization that the drowning feeling he’s been dealing with for the past year is the fact that he has no future in Hawkins.
