I’d thought that things would be different, Stan thought. The edges still ragged unthreatened by the years of worn, recounting the strings frayed from its original form. Rocking himself back and forth on his dad’s old chair, Kyle sat next to him, taking comfort in the wooden floors crossed legs tucked firmly against his chest. They sit in silence.
“You’re better than this Kyle.” Stan starts
“What are you, my mother?”

“What do you think of me;” Kenny begged, hands and knees like a desperate dog. “For real, I-i can’t keep pretending that you are nothing but a friend.” He shook his clasped hands. They sat in tense silence, the toll of pretend was damping his playful persona. The vulnerability dripping from his eyes as he watched the other back away slowly. Refusing to let their eyes meet once more. -

Kyle was confused. he didn't consider himself a romantic person, nor did he care about relationships or things like that...
He didn't know how or why it started, but for some nights in a row his dreams seemed to focus on the same theme: kisses, dances and touches. The protagonist of them was never clear, sometimes it was just a silhouette, sometimes just a voice, sometimes a strange feeling of comfort.
