Will paid her no mind as he was busy hearing Zeller already complaining about his new partner, although soon he hoped that he had continued ignoring her.
"... And Lecter will be paired with Graham." Will's attention snapped back to Bedelia once he heard Hannibal's surname, and his mind went blank. No, no way in hell he would stay in the same room as the other man if he wasn’t extremely necessary.
"Excuse me teacher, can I please change partner?” he looked back at Hannibal, who was slightly grinning at him. “I don't think I'm suitable for him."
Bedelia furrowed her brows, looking between the two of them. "Why not? You're the most excellent students in my class, I believe that it's appropriate to work with someone at your same level. I’m counting on you two to do a great job."
"Yes, but-"
"Goodbye, Mr. Graham."

“Friends?” he murmured, turning enough that Will was forced to relax into his chest. “Is that what we are?”
Will tensed, leaned forward and set his glass on the coffee table they’d used to prop up their feet. Hannibal took the opportunity to deposit his glass on its surface as well - in the same motion, he lowered his arm, let it fall over Will’s shoulders. Will snuggled into his arms, let his head tip back against Hannibal’s shoulder.
“Mm,” he agreed softly. “Friends are good to one another - friends take care of each other. And since today is the day to be grateful for such things…” he turned his head, caught Hannibal’s gaze, held it safely within his own. Hannibal swallowed, tried not to drown in endless blue.

He exhaled in a single exasperated sigh.
“Okay. Okay. Okay. Um.”
Kakashi’s fingers brushed over his hand once more, eyes narrowing in concern.
“Do you... do you ever think we’ll...”
Yamato trailed off, the latter half of his question getting caught for a final moment in his throat. He and Kakashi shared what they felt was a momentary, mind-reading glance, both of them holding each other’s eyes and opening their mouths to simultaneously finish the sentence.
“Have sex?” - “Get married?”
They both recoiled, shock striking through to the soles of their shoes.
“What?” They asked in tandem once more.
A brief silence fell between them, and neither knew who was to start first.
Yamato took the initiative, needing confirmation for what he absolutely had to have misheard.
“Married? Did you say married? You want to get married?!”
Giving a slight shrug, Kakashi nodded.
“But let’s not blow over that you just brought up having sex. I’d like to go back to that.”

After the war, Yamato has his team. He has Sai, who cooks and cements the bond between them all, his smile becoming more genuine by the day. He has Sakura, who makes sure they're healing, at least physically, and that they have each other's backs, for now and forever. He has Naruto, who's become something of a bigger, permanent fixture in Yamato's life as secret keeper and training companion. And, of course, he has Kakashi, in a way, if he could just stop avoiding him and his feelings.
He'll figure it out eventually, Yamato thinks, though he pretty much knows how it will end. In the mean time, he's got a forest to rebuild, an entirely new skill set to learn, and a life to recover.
