In lieu of an NDA (or a bargain tattoo), Singer gives Vanserra his number. It’s not much in the way of leverage, but it’s all Vanserra is going to get. Or is it?

Azriel stops. There lies a puppy the size of his palm, wiggling in the dirt. The smoke from its dying mother wraps the poor creature in a blanket of ash. The mother closes her eyes, and the remaining smoke billowing off of her fades into nothingness.
Through it all: Naiya, his shadows repeat, chorusing joyously. Naiya!
He takes a moment to whisper a quiet prayer for the felled hound. Then, he scoops up the infant, its eyes scrunched shut.

A kinky slow burn tale of two lonely males divided by court politics and five hundred years of bloody history. What begins as a spiralling obsession becomes so much more as the lives of the spymaster and the prince become irrevocably intertwined.
Set a handful of years after the events of Silver Flames and CC3 this story assumes that a war against the Asteri has been fought and won (no real spoilers for CC3). Beron remains High Lord of Autumn and Koschei is still trapped at the lake. Meanwhile the Inner Circle’s alliance with Eris still stands, putting Azriel in a very tricky position when he’s caught breaking through the wards into Eris’s private chambers one evening.

He rubs his eyes with clenched fists as the paste from his hair starts to sting his eyes. There really is no telling which direction he is even going in anymore and it is getting dark. He trips over a root but catches himself on a nearby tree. He yanks his foot stronger than is strictly necessary and- “That tree was there first you know. I can also confidently say, it is about 43 years older than you.”
Fuck me.

The Autumn Prince was prepared this time, when Azriel launched from his post. His sentence turned into that damning cackle, a strange, foreign sound bursting from his mouth as he grasped Azriel's shoulders, and used the contact to winnow the two of them away.
