sooner or later. ghost expected one or the other to come at him.
when it comes to this line of work, it could only be safe for so long; rather, it’s a feat he’s managed to stay alive till now, considering that living to see another day is never a guarantee. though, maybe he should’ve known that. he did, but, for a second, for an ignorant, gullible second, he thought otherwise. and for that, the world reprimands him.
(or ghost gets left behind when a mission goes awry. it'd be a lot easier to get back to base if he wasn't haunted by the thought of soap on every turn.)

he likes it. it exists, the world, it breathes, flourishes, like it does, regardless of whether there’s someone outside of its life to prove that it does, just as he and satoru does when there’s no one else. here, in tandem, they can live as they are to each other, no pretenses, no façade, none. they are what they are.
to suguru, satoru is satoru. and to satoru, suguru is suguru.
(or suguru isn't able to sleep, so he decides tire himself out by sitting outside, enjoying the scenery. of course, he doesn't for long as satoru joins him as company.)

just imagine a slice-of-life/recovery arc feat. color and killer, and these drabbles are pretty much just that. from highs to lows and lows to highs, it'll get better one day. not today, not tomorrow, and not the day after that, but some day. that's enough hope for them both.
