After searching the data related to Shao Kahn, Kazuya decided joining with him. Shao was willing to join with him as he wanted to form a larger alliance to deal with his opposite side, so that he could conquer all the realms easily.
Their alliance led to a big war between the Earthrealm and Outworld. For fighting against Kazuya and Shao's side, Liu Kang, Kitana and Raiden had to seek more Earthrealm allies, and unite with them to combat Kazuya, Shao and their allies.
During the war, different rivalries and relationships were happened.
