He’s sitting on the couch with the recently summoned water ghoul, where they’ve been talking about their similarities and differences in water ghoul anatomy—their different numbers of gills, their blue versus gray skin, and—well, this seems as reasonable a next step as any.

Mountain keens at him, a pitiful, wrecked sound that ends with a whimper, his tail lashing across the towels and sheets beside them. He nods, a full-body shudder wracking him and leaving him gasping.
