“You like me anyway,” James teased gleefully.
“That was never the point.”
James laughed softly into the next kiss, dizzy with relief and affection and the simple fact that Regulus was here after days of barely seeing him.

Summary
Regulus Black does not make scenes.
He enters classrooms on time, judges everyone silently, and keeps his life in perfect order. Then he arrives twenty-three minutes late with Artemis: a massive white cat with a bow, an attitude problem, and enough theatrical talent to derail an entire lesson.

Potter looks at him now, really looks, head tilted to the side, a question on his lips. “In the locker room,” he starts, “I offered you something… Why didn’t you take me up on it?”
Regulus clenches his jaw. “This isn’t fair.” He shakes his head, biting at his lower lip. “You know this isn’t fair.”
Potter takes a step closer, leaning down by Regulus’ ear. “Maybe I don’t want to play fair,” he whispers.
Regulus' heart and stomach tumble into a somersault. “What does that even mean?” His low voice mirrors Potter’s.
Potter leans back a little, wetting his lips with his tongue. “It means you have a problem, and I can help. I want to help. Would you let me help?”

After a potions lesson goes horribly wrong, Regulus ends up burning his hands, meaning he’s unable to relieve himself of his ‘tension’ to clear out his overstimulated brain. Who will offer to help? His ex-older brother’s best friend, someone whom Regulus has had a crush on for years who’s as straight as they come, or so it seems.
