Summary
Neil turned to look out the window, letting the smoke burn through his lungs longer than he should’ve. It hurt; it made him feel real again. He let it out slowly, afraid time might slip away with the exhale, and he’d become this smoke dissipating into the wind once more.
If it were a year ago, he would write this off as his memory being odd. It always had been. Conversations he was present for slipped away, and more than just possessions got lost between the cities they stayed in. If this were a year ago, he’d write the missing hours away because he’d been jumbled and upset, and his mind didn’t always hit the record button for the bad stuff. But he wasn’t just surviving for himself anymore.
--
No longer on the run, some inconsistencies Neil had long written off start to effect his daily life. Or, another DID!Neil fic.

Summary
“You don’t remember, do you?” And there was that laid bare feeling again, like Andrew, with his careful steady hands, was peeling back every layer of lies Neil was built on. “I haven’t seen you scared of Kevin since Millport.”
Millport. Sounded like the name of a town him and his mother would melt into, hiding themselves among small town niceties and miles of empty stretches of road. As far as he could remember, he’d never been to a Millport. How much time was he missing?
---
Or, Neil takes a hit to the head and wakes up missing two years. He doesn’t know where he is, or who he’s supposed to be to the worried strangers filling his hospital room.

Summary
“It's a polaroid camera. Even if we don’t find anything else, I’m taking this as a win,” Neil said as they strayed closer to the pharmacy.
Andrew gave him a sidelong look, all but saying that drugs are infinitely more valuable than anything else now. It would be a waste of a trip if all they had to show for the day was a camera.
“Not everyone has memory like you, y’know?” Neil murmured as they scoured the shelves for any over the counter drugs left behind.
“Not everything is meant to be remembered,” Andrew said.
“I’m already losing my mom’s face, and it’s only been a couple years since everything…” Neil paused, stopping his search to lock onto Andrew. “I don’t want to lose you too.”
--
Or, Neil scavenges a polaroid camera, and they make a memory that pictures could never fully capture.

Summary
"Yeah, I think that's why they're my favorite. A fleeting rope, blink and you miss it. It had just enough strength and time to prove its point without causing lasting damage." Neil said.
Andrew scoffed. "What point is a rapidly rotating column of air trying to prove?"
There were a whole host of distinctly human aspirations and emotions Neil had assigned to the destructive forces of nature they chased after, but that wasn't a conversation you had over coffee with a near stranger.
"You'll have to ask the next one you catch."
--
After his mother's death, Neil ends up farther east than Millport, square in Tornado Alley. Now twenty-three, Neil Josten only exists during tornado season — chasing storms and his desire to be real. The chase this season gives him more than he bargained for.

Summary
“You have me and Andrew.” Neil said, gentle but firm.
“Yeah, okay.” Kevin rolled his eyes, reaching to unpause the game, but Neil grabbed his wrist.
There was a deadly serious glint in Neil’s eye, the kind of look he got before ripping off a band-aid or telling the press like it was.
“We might not fuck or whatever, but that doesn’t make you any less important to the both of us.”
--
Or, Kevin and Neil's discussion about sexuality takes an interesting turn, and Andrew is filled in appropriately.

Summary
Predictably, Neil’s automated voicemail message answers for him. The number you’re trying to reach is unavailable at this time. The message runs through its spiel, informing Andrew that he can leave a message after the beep.
Goodbye hovers on his tongue. It’s the least that Neil deserves from him. There are so many more things to be said.
Andrew shuts his phone without leaving a voicemail. He drops his phone onto the counter and slips a knife out of its sheath.
Right before spring break during his fourth year at Palmetto, Andrew Minyard attempts suicide. Now everyone has to figure out how to move forward from here.
