It was slight - a rustle of sheets and the slow, deliberate shift of weight. Aaron’s hand emerged from the covers, reaching out until his fingertips rested precariously on the edge of the mattress. He didn’t cross the threshold. He didn’t demand. He simply offered.
Spencer felt his own hand move of its own volition, a ghost guided by a memory older than their anger. His fingers trembled as he stretched his arm out, reaching into the empty space. When their hands met - fingertips grazing in the dim light - the world seemed to hold its breath.
It wasn’t a resolution. It wasn’t an apology, or a plan, or an admission of guilt. It was an anchor.

Bad didn't look away. He felt the heat pooling in his stomach, the familiar, dizzying rush of finally letting go of the tension that had been building since they finished the recording. In the quiet of their offices, miles apart but anchored by the glow of their monitors, the rest of the world simply ceased to exist.
There was only the sound of their breathing - syncing up, erratic and desperate - and the steady, relentless focus of the cameras that connected them. For the first time all night, Bad didn't try to hide his face or retreat into the safety of his hoodie. He let the vulnerability show, let the hunger he’d been fighting all evening bloom freely across his features.

The phrase turned over and over in Skeppy’s mind, stripping away every defense he had. For two years, he had worn the armor of the tease, the instigator, the guy who could brush off anything with a laugh. But that sentence didn’t bounce off. It sank straight through him, cold and paralyzing, hitting the exact raw nerve he had been trying to protect all week.
“Right,” Skeppy managed to get out, his voice sounding hollow, like it belonged to someone else entirely. “Yeah. I guess I am.”

Aaron felt the heat of pure, cold indignation simmering beneath his skin. It was deliberate. The man was baiting him, looking for the flash of protective anger, the moment where the Unit Chief would break character and show the lover beneath.
“Dr. Reid is one of the most thorough and articulate agents in this building,” Aaron said, his voice quiet, steady, and utterly devoid of anything other than calm professionalism. “His work requires no editing. It requires only an appreciation for the nuance he provides. If you find his reports ‘verbose,’ perhaps it is a limitation of the reader, not the writer.”

With every shallow breath, with every soft, clumsy press of their lips, they were working through the wreckage of their recent history, pouring the emotion they’d been forced to suppress into the physical contact.
Skeppy pulled back for a fraction of a second, his forehead resting against Bad’s, his eyes dark and heavy-lidded. His breath hitched, a shaky, uneven sound that sent a jolt of pure, raw longing straight through Bad.
"You’re here," Skeppy whispered, his voice barely audible, thick with an emotion that transcended the haze of the alcohol. "You’re really here."

Skeppy and Bad are both tired of the long-distance and the highs and lows it pushes them through. It takes a few arguments, much needed communication and a barely planned meetup for the tension to disperse.

“It’s okay,” Aaron is saying to him, one hand in his hair now while the other takes up his hand again, this time lacing their fingers together in the way he would usually do when sitting on the jet on the way home. “It’s all going to be fine. Morgan’s gone for help, you just stay here with me, alright?”
Spencer does his best to nod, but the shivering that’s taken over makes it hard to keep his teeth from chattering, and he knows from the overly soft tone of voice that Aaron is using with him that he likely looks as lightheaded as he feels.
