    Summary

He could smell his delectable prize from where he hid behind the bushes. He couldn't recall where he'd come from, but he had a far more urgent matter to consider—like the unsuspecting creature that sang so melodiously while bathing in the stream.
      His prize smelled so good.

    Summary

Geralt accompanies Jaskier – yet again – to a feast at court. When the bard is amusing himself with some court ladies, Geralt decides he has spent enough time at court and leaves. Jaskier would just have to pull himself up by his own bootstraps, if necessary. Right?

May not have been such a good decision, Geralt finds out later in the night.

    Summary

[...] it's a tradition, someone had told them earlier, foreign couples had to stand under the arch of red tulips and share a kiss, something about good luck and renewal of the vows and union. It's a stupid idea, but pretending to be married to Jaskier was also a stupid idea and they still followed through it, so whatever.

He pulled the bard under the arch, ignoring the little sound of protest he received for the sudden act.

The men were approaching, but hesitated curiously when they saw where the "couple" was.

"What are you do-" Jaskier didn't have time to finish, Geralt wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling his body close and bringing his lips to the bard's. [...]

    Summary

"Jaskier, how drunk are you?" he asks, and Jaskier breathes a laugh into Geralt's shoulder.

"I am excellently drunk, Geralt, I've done a very good job of it. I am as drunk as a Skelligen skunk."

"There are no skunks on Skellige."

"I am as drunk as a Skelligen monk, then."

Which is fairly drunk, all things considered; Skelligens don't fuck around about that sort of thing.

Geralt has been foolish about many things in his long life, and every time to his detriment; he'll not make the mistake of deluding himself that someone like Jaskier, with all the world open to him and everything to offer in return, would ever really choose Geralt's company in that way.

(Geralt may not be a reliable narrator of his own life.)
