Summary
Megumi Fushiguro never stood a chance in life. His mother died when he was five, his father abused and neglected him, and he has never felt right in his own mind or body. The only two people who have ever cared about him are his sister Tsumiki and his mother's childhood friend Satoru Gojo. Gojo is the only person in his life that has ever been like a parent to him. He practically raised Megumi and his sister and was always there when they needed him. Meugmi is slow to trust and love, but holds his family and his two best friends very close to his chest. But now, at the beginning of his sophomore year of high school, Tsumiki has gone away to college and his conflicting emotions about one of his friends have thrown him for a loop. But still, Gojo is there. He doesn't leave and remains an ever constant persence in Megumi's life, which he is eternally grateful for. But sometimes, it's not enough to silence the voices in his head, however much Gojo tries.

“It was supposed to be an easy mission,” he said, voice coming out more even than he thought it would. “To exterminate a second grade cursed spirit.”
As soon as he was done speaking the lump in his throat was back. Something rising up in his chest that he couldn’t handle any more. Something that was seizing control of him. He grabbed the stool next to him and threw it to the side.
“Damn it!” He yelled.
It was something. A release.

“Oh yeah?” Itadori said, not quite sure where this was going.
“Yeah. She was cursed. Fell into a coma about a year ago.” He continued a bit awkwardly, still looking down at his hands. “I miss her a lot. Everyone keeps telling me it’ll be okay. That she’s still alive, but um, I just- I know what you’re going through. So, yeah” he finished lamely, glancing up at Itadori’s face.
“Oh, I’m sorry”
“Don’t be”
Megumi looked down at his hands again.

Back at Jujutsu Tech, Gojo Satoru opens an unlocked door and finds a room that’s wrong in the smallest ways. His Six Eyes catalog the absence; his body sleeps only when it smells like Suguru’s shampoo. Shoko prescribes seventy-two hours and triage honesty. Satoru leaves a dozen voicemails; Suguru sends one text: I’m safe. We’ll talk later.

Steve turns around. "Yeah?" Bucky's white as a sheet. His hands are shaking. His expression is one that puts a lump in Steve's throat and a pounding in his chest. "What's wrong?"
"I..." Bucky's lower lip quivers. His face is already tear-stained, but Steve can see the subtle shift in his eyes that means they're welling up again.
"You should sit," Steve says softly. Bucky nods and takes a seat carefully on the couch. The tension in his movements makes it look like he's expecting a hard slap for any wrong twitch, and he probably is.
