“I bet.” Eddie waggles his brows, a salacious smile on his face.
Steve rolls his eyes. “I meant it comes in handy when I’m carting the brats around.”
Eddie laughs, a fond little puff of air. “You’re such a mom, Harrington.”

Summary
Eddie is a good guy, he knows that. And once you’ve been through something like what they’ve been through together, it ties you together in an intangible, indescribable, undeniable way. But sometimes he just doesn’t know how to talk to him. He’s… intense. Not necessarily in a bad way and Steve wouldn’t say it makes him uncomfortable exactly. But every time Eddie pushes and prods and gets too close there’s a strange heat that fires in him. Something somewhere between fascination, annoyance, and embarrassment and it’s… off-putting to say the least.

“Be good for me,” Steve says- almost a whisper. Quiet and gentle, as though he isn’t causing catastrophe through words alone, wrecking Eddie in his dorky minimum-wage uniform fleece vest. “I’ll see you soon, baby. Really soon.”
Eddie nods, words out the window. His brain is on the floor at this point, melted out of his skull as soon as Steve had leaned closer, thoughts pushed out and replaced with a ringing in his ears, a record on repeat of good, Eddie, so good, be good for me, baby.
