Ilya’s eyes dance over his company: Yuna crowding his dinner plate with food, David licking the sauce off his fingers, and Shane with the tip of his tongue jutting out in strict focus, using his fork to maneuver strands of asparagus into partitions on his plate so that none of his side dishes touch.
“Yes, well.” Ilya hopes his grin is dopey in that vaguely happy way, not in the I just kissed the living daylights out of your son, and he kissed me back so hard my lips still hurt, and after I wash these dishes I’m going to go to his room and do it all over again way. Under the table, Shane probes Ilya’s shin with his foot. “Depends how you look at it.”
