In a relatively peaceful Bohemia, Skalitz prospers. After Martin's death and the truth of his parentage coming out, Henry becomes master huntsman for Radzig, a job and a social status that put him on the edge. Of town, and its community. Luckily he still has his Ma, his dog and his horse.
He may also soon have a new Problem in the form of Hans Capon, mysteriously exiled from Rattay, and surviving on poaching.
With a complicated situation comes a creative solution: for punishment, Hans is condemned to serve as Henry's right hand man in all his endeavours. Surely the forced proximity and both boys' feeling of isolation and othernness can only lead to a normal friendship. -
