Letting go of her cigarettes, Nat lowers her clutch back down to her side, and steps away from the bar of the door. “What are you talking about? Adam is dead.”
Misty wrinkles her nose and shakes her head. “Well, yeah,” she scoffs, a soft smile starting to spread. “But Adam couldn’t have done it.”
or, Misty and Natalie hit the road to find Travis's killer, have some conversations, and commit a few crimes. (Well, 7, if we're being technical.)

As miserable as ever before standing on Misty fuckin’ Quigley’s doorstep, Nat saunters past the idyllic, white-picket fence whilst sneering at the cheerful Robin's egg blue paint coupled with the petunias that hide whatever murderous horrors Misty stashes away in her basement-cum-prison. The gimmick’s as fake and insincere as Shauna's housewife schtick, Lot's messiah bullshit, or even Tai's cheap plastic smile plastered across highway billboards running for a cause Nat doubts that she even believes in.
Figures that, out of everyone in this fucked up world, she needs Misty the most.

“I see him.”
In the dark, the two women exchange a series of looks. Natalie’s eyebrows ask, Is it him? To which Misty’s eyes respond, I think so. Natalie takes a deep breath. Misty mimics the gesture.
The man-shaped figure picks up speed.
“Should we run?” Misty asks.
“Yeah,” Natalie says. “We should.”
They don’t move.
Or: 2008. Natalie is twenty-seven, a budding musician and artist living alone in a hazy, dream-like New Orleans. Her life is calm and uneventful until one night, the day before a big storm, a familiar face in the crowd catches her eye during a performance.
The dreamy haze makes way for something much more troubling, and Natalie finds herself doing things she swore she'd never do again.

Walter helped more than he should have, but she couldn’t ask anyone else. Lottie- she’s not in the right state of mind and if she was, then she’d say that taking back what was given to the Wilderness was exactly how to make sure their lives continued to fall apart. They would be hungry forever should she choose selfishness.
They all sacrificed. They all laid something on the altar. It was done.
But Misty had given the Wilderness Crystal by accident. One could argue she gave it all of the Yellowjacks when she smashed the black box. She would not give it Natalie. Not her. Anyone else but not her.
She earned the right to barter. No one else could say that.
And so armed with everything she didn’t have twenty-six years ago, Misty Quigley faced the Wilderness and made the first demand she ever made of it.
“Give her back.”
