    "His hand comes up to cup her cheek in one swift move. It makes her gasp ever-so-slightly. She forgets how to breathe. She can’t hear anything. Can’t see anything other than the man in front of her with his dirty blond curls, his pretty eyes, his crooked nose, and some of the slight moles on his cheeks. His skin turns a little red, but he doesn’t move his hand. And Sydney, all she can do is lean into the touch.

    His palm is big and warm, and her face fits in there perfectly. She allows herself to close her eyes as she rests there. Her stomach flutters. He steps closer.

    'I’m,' he begins, to which Sydney shudders, 'I’m right here, Syd. For now. I’m right here. Whatever you need, just ask. I’ll do it.'

    For now

    Sydney releases a long breath. Her shoulders droop. His scent, soft cologne and cigarettes, clean and smoky at the same time, fills her senses.
