Then it’s Pete’s turn. Nick and Tom exit the closet uneventfully, and then Nick presses the empty beer bottle into Pete’s palm, a mischievous grin spread across his face. “You’re up, Mav,” he says.
“I hate you,” Pete says half-heartedly in response.
“Love you too, man,” Nick replies, patting him on the shoulder magnanimously as Pete leans in, places the bottle on the ground, and spins it. It swivels around and around for what seems like an eternity before finally coming to a soft halt.
Pete knows who it’s pointing to before he follows the path the mouth of the bottle is directed towards, but he looks anyway.
Tom stares back at him, ice-blue eyes glinting in the light.
Well, fuck.

The day had started out normally: Ice's alarm ringing obnoxiously at six a.m. on the dot, rousing Mav rudely from what had been quite a nice dream and prompting Ice to press a goodbye kiss to Mav's barely-awake forehead before changing to head out. Maverick had dozed for a little while longer before making his way to the bathroom. There he had discovered a bright red stain in his boxers: an omen of doom.
Mav is incapacitated by a particularly bad period. Ice takes care of him.
