“Why didn’t you?” Sapnap asks as he swipes the back of his hand over his nose. “I mean, not even George?”
The mention of their other friend brings Dream into a new reality. Soft, brown, messy hair on his screen, a grin that laughs and cheeks that turn rosy any time Dream teases him. A light squeal into his headset at the late hours of the night, once Dream is alone in his tranquility. George, the rough paper that sands Dream down. Warm, fluffy bread. Fuck, Dream thinks.
Dream decides to tell his friends about his daughter right before they move in.

He glances over his shoulder, his eyes flitting between the lush green trees and ferns as he strains to make out the two hunters who have tracked him down since Nevada, through the Mojave desert and now, to the coast of California. He’s shifted more times than he can count, the lines between human and lupine blurring as he sleeps little, the chilling nights spent in the desert still haunting him in the balmy California evening. He lets out an involuntary shiver, his shoulders shaking.
George is his pack's omega, and he's run away one too many times. Dream is the pack's alpha, and he doesn't like losing his possessions.
