Summary
He imagines that their skin has started to blister from putrefaction. He would go to touch their bellies and rip the skin off cleanly, he’d rub salt into their bodies gently. One day he could build a house big enough to hang all of them up proudly like a museum. He doesn’t really like eating meat anyways.
Obviously Shane was placating him, he’s not stupid. Like letting a stray dog eat whatever you’re carrying home in a plastic grocery bag so it doesn’t bite you. Ilya wouldn’t have bitten Shane if he wasn’t allowed, he wasn’t cruel. He’s never been.

"Must be nice."
Shane's cheeks hurt from the fixed smile he's been wearing since nine in the morning. He passes a signed photo of himself to the waiting woman with a nod before turning back to Hayden. "What must be nice?"
"Dude, the line of people waiting for your autograph wraps all the way around the building. Twice." Hayden hands him a water bottle, cap already off. "Here you go. Stay hydrated."
Shane hides a wince; the slightly warm water tastes like plastic, and it lingers unpleasantly on his tongue. He's been signing for what feels like hours already and the crowd isn't getting any smaller. "Fitness is popular these days."
"Sure. Fitness." Hayden gives a pointed look to the stack of photos in front of Shane: one set with him smiling awkwardly into the distance, arms crossed in his workout gear, and the other with him leaning against the side of a motel pool the marketing department rented for the morning, towel around his neck. The photographer insisted, despite protests that his workouts have never featured swimming.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov loves his job and loves his students. Four years in, he's hitting his stride, and he's grateful for the place he's built for himself at Metropolitan High School.
But down the hall is Shane Hollander. Perfect at everything and constantly pushing Ilya to improve, he's also Ilya's biggest distraction. He doesn't know what to do with his feelings for Hollander, especially when Hollander could never feel the same.
Struggling with his identity both in and out of school, Ilya can't afford to get swept up in Hollander, but it's exactly that which takes him out of his head.

Five and a half years at Allocare and he’s learned to talk the talk and walk the walk. He’s good. His team lead tells him he’s going to make that promotion this year, actually - managing accounts is easy, and he’s got a rhythm now.
Ilya Rozanov, on the other hand, isn’t easy. Shane’s pretty sure he’s come straight from hell itself if he’s honest - now there’s only one thing standing between Shane and the promotion he’s gunning for, and it’s his brand new, 6’3 Russian client with no regards for professional boundaries.
He has a good mouth, though.
