The aquatic man was constantly struggling to be appreciated and useful enough to stay as close as he possibly could to this man that he had idolized for his entire life. It did not matter if he was busy, if he was tired or hated the idea completely, Kevin obeyed. Whether or not there was any actual benefit or positive reinforcement, The Deep was hopelessly good at simply taking whatever was thrown at him. It made him an easy plaything for those in power, an overly loyal punching bag filled with insecurities ripe for the plucking. An obviously strong choice in Vought’s pool of supes, a causal killing of two problems with a single fix. If he seemed used to the role, why not exploit it? Not only would his powers help to sell The Seven as a whole to the media, his tolerance for abuse might also help to pacify John a fraction.

After three days of terror, three days of Hell unleashed on earth in the form of variants of one of the planet's strongest protectors, all variants of the hero Invincible were dead, or had mysteriously vanished. Or, at least, that's what the planet was led to believe.
A week after the war ended, Rex wakes confused, injured, and mysteriously not as a corpse in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Or, it was mysterious, if there hadn't been a Viltrumite looming over him.
After saving his life for reasons Rex can't even begin to comprehend, the variant seems glued to his side, and is confusingly dedicated to keeping Rex alive despite his apparent purpose of bringing chaos and destruction in this universe. This Mark is a man of few words and even fewer real expressions, and when asked about why he saved him, why he was still in this universe when all of the other surviving Invincibles had disappeared, his answer is even more baffling than his solemn expression and curt words.
That Rex, this Rex from an entirely different universe, was his.
