“Can I not simply stare to admire you?” he murmurs. He’s five paces away. Four. Three. Two. He stands close enough to see the freckles on Phainon’s golden-hued skin, close enough to breathe in his earthy scent. His want is a physical being that demands he grip Phainon’s body and never let go lest this moment slips away from them both. He cups Phainon’s face, and Phainon settles his hands on his hips.
Sometimes, he watches Phainon and thinks how fortunate it is that they can be this kind, this delicate with each other now.
“I think you’re the more eye-catching one between the two of us, Mydeimos,” Phainon says. His lips twitch, and Mydei can feel the muscles of his cheek moving under his fingers.
What a miracle it is that they have this now. What a relief.

Sometimes it manages its way up his throat, into his vocal chords and out his mouth. He dreamt of seeing a beautiful sea, too beautiful to be real. A man, back turned, walking past the gates of Okhema to embrace his fate, to inherit Strife, to leave everyone behind in the name of the Flame-Chase Journey.He props a large canvas on his easel and he paints golden eyes and blonde hair, his brushstrokes filled with the red markings of painted-on tattoos; while his heart does its best to leap out of his chest, each stroke followed by shaking hands and the tears in his eyes he doesn’t quite shed.

Phainon is a top-tier assassin—silent, precise, unstoppable. Or at least, he was until Mydei, his target who he accidentally saved.
Somehow, every time he is finally mentally prepared to get rid of him, Mydei wanders too close, flashes a smile, or—worst of all—starts a conversation. Phainon should be annoyed. Instead, he’s distracted. And maybe, just maybe, a little smitten.

Nothing more escaped him. Even that was too much for Phainon, lips pressed into a thin line mired with regret that he had spoken at all.
“I don’t have to what?”
Phainon didn’t answer.
“I don’t have to what, Phainon?” Mydei demanded, sharp and rough, but that was always when Phainon met him head on.
The truth spilled out in a cracked whisper. “Try and love me. When I—when I’m like this.”
Amphoreus’ first solar eclipse was meant to be a time for celebration. But the sight of daylight devoured by darkness dredges Phainon’s old memories and transformations with them in a frenzied haze.
Mydei proves to Phainon that his appearances, and the past entangled within them, has never mattered to him.

What the hell happened to you? He wanted to ask, but couldn't get his mouth to work. Kaveh's hair was a mess, the clips nowhere to be seen — part of his cape was slipping off his shoulder, and most importantly— his white shirt was covered in red.
Handprints. On his collarbone, his exposed chest, his throat. There was a bleeding cut on his cheek, too.

Only one. Only one person had ever called him that with true sincerity.
He stared at the long, endless road ahead of him and couldn’t bring himself to look behind him. He had heard that voice too often in those four million and one cycles only to find they were nothing but delusions—of course. Of course. What else could they have been? What else could it be now? How could it be anything but his fractured mind trying to conjure some comfort he didn’t deserve in his final moments—
“You sure took your time getting here. Now you can’t even bring yourself to face me?”
After four million and one cycles, the very first Phainon finally passes the mantle of Khaslana onto the next Phainon. The Coreflames had both ravaged and sustained his body, and without them he crumbles to ash. When Amphoreus itself is a lie, the gentle West Wind and Sea of Flowers must be as well. So, that should be the end of his pitiful existence.
Instead, he wakes up in a library—Irontomb’s data archive of previous cycles. And there he reunites with the very first Mydei.

A pause stretches between them.
“I see. This would never have happened had I been the one fucking you as I pleased, all along.” Mydei suddenly speaks and Phainon’s jaw nearly drops at the stellar display of wisdom.
“That’s possibly the most insane conjecture I have ever witnessed, Mydeimos.”
“Is it?” Mydei tilts his head, his gaze locked with his; his hands shift and Phainon starts as the silk is suddenly hiked up – “Had it been that way, the bet wouldn’t have been lost…” and steeled fingers slide beneath to glide over bare skin, “and you wouldn’t be walking around in this state – for everyone to see.”
Caelus losing a bet and making it Phainon's problem was one thing.
All of that having the domino effect of Mydei fucking him in the ass for hours was another.

It's a wonderful day in Jamanakai city.
Kai’s plans for the day are to deliver a sword, get the loaded payment, buy necessities and potatoes to bake, go home, and take a rest. The last two have scratched off however, and it’s all courtesy to this guy he comes across too; he’s really tall, busting with muscles, owns a pretty pair of green eyes, and wears a damn charming smile.
Everything goes upside down after that.
Suddenly, before the gods could spare a blink, Kai is aboard a pirate ship with people he least expected to be with.
Kai makes terrible plans, but this trip has got to be the worst yet as he literally fights for his life against one or two fellow mythical creatures.
He’s also fighting for his troubling heart, as the same guy who ruined his life never fails to skyrocket his heart rate through the sky, and churn his stomach like a towel being twisted into a rope.The first day they met was already stressful, let alone the following ones.
But hey, if you were to tell Kai a few days before what he’ll do by the end of the sail, he wouldn’t even believe you — in fact, he might as well set you on fire.

Hitoshi knew he hadn’t seen the end of Neito Monoma. Granted, it hadn’t been very hard to come to that conclusion; anyone who had ever exchanged a word with Monoma could tell he lacked any modicum of subtlety.
“I promise to be the first one to congratulate you when you’re accepted into the hero course!” Monoma had loudly announced in the locker room after their joint training, a mischievous grin plastered on his face like a trophy.
Coming from anyone else, Hitoshi would have interpreted that sentence as an encouragement of sorts, an alternative way of saying,
I know you’ll make it, I’m rooting for you.
No way did those words mean the same thing coming from Monoma, though. No matter how he looked at it, Monoma’s words had been a threat.After Hitoshi's transfer to the hero course is formally approved, he finds himself at the mercy of one Neito Monoma, who will stop at nothing to get him to choose Class B. Unfortunately for Hitoshi, it's working.

With his pure white hair and silver-white garb and armour, the young man stands in stark contrast to his surroundings, the holy city’s torches casting him in an almost ethereal glow. It is an image so out of place in the darkness of Amphoreus’ evernights, for the man is so radiant, so beautiful, so seemingly untainted in innocence, and so unlike the horrors and atrocities that Mydeimos has borne witness to during the time he's spent roaming the world.
He is certain he would be captivated by the sight, if not for the greatsword the man is holding, as well as the piercing stare from those bright—yet empty—blue eyes.

Mydei's and Phainon's first battle lasted ten nights. It sparked a connection that would last whole lifetimes.
