Summary
A mysterious, stubborn virus infiltrates Caine's systems, forcing him to utilize some rather desperate measures in a reckless attempt to keep the circus, and himself, online. He attempts to fix it, ends up somewhat successful, and pretends like everything is fine as a result. See? He's not dying! He can handle this just fine on his own. He didn't need Kinger, or anyone for that matter, rummaging around in his delicate code.
That is, until he wakes up one day covered in digital blood, surrounded by the mutilated bodies of his favorite humans.

Well, Shadow gets the bright idea to put him on a path to redemption; he goes to therapy! Surely he can be fixed. Surely Mephiles' mental state isn't worse than Shadow expected. Surely the fact that Mephiles is a wanted criminal won't be an issue. Surely everything goes smoothly, and SURELY Shadow will not bond with the most mentally unstable person alive.
