    Summary

Ethan turned his attention to Alexander, who was huddled in the corner. When he approached him, the omega’s lip curled into a defensive snarl, teeth bared in a low, threatening hiss.

Ethan stared down at him, confused for a moment, before remembering his scent. Yikes. If it was enough to intimidate an older alpha like Murdock, he couldn't imagine the effect it would have on a young omega.

“Sorry,” he said, sweetening his scent to something softer, letting hints of vanilla come through, similar to what he used with Michael and Maddison.

Alexander visibly relaxed, if only by a little, looking a little less like a feral animal and more like a young man. Very young. Surely he couldn't be any more than a teenager. “Why are you here?”

Ethan shrugged. “I've never seen an omega in a prison before. Maybe I wanted to see what makes you so different, hm?”

    Summary

Ethan observed the Prince properly, not from an objective light, but as a soul, for the first time. The pure white hair cascading over his shoulders and spilling down his back like snow. The delicate silver coronet that was woven between the strands that was perched on the crown of his head. The porcelain-white skin that noble ladies attempted to replicate by pasting thick layers of lead and vinegar on their faces. The powdery blue of his usually downcast eyes framed by thick eyelashes. The way the night tinged the apples of his cheeks a soft peachy colour and the tip of his nose pink.

You really are just a boy, aren’t you? Ethan thought, gazing up at Alex, who did not look back, his attention instead brought to the night sky.

Ethan wished he was the kind of man who could wax poetry about the stars and how they twinkled silver in the hemisphere, blinking down at them all. But he was not. He was stubbornly rational and pragmatic, down to his core. He could smile and celebrate and feel joy, but he could not envision things he saw no possibility for. His slumbers had always been stark and dreamless. He envied Alex’s adoration for the stars.
