Summary

With the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebellion has the advantage and they'll do what they can to help, even if that means sitting still for awhile.
But when Davits Draven visits Cassian, with regards from Mon Mothma, asking him to go on a field mission after years of being off active duty, Jyn learns quickly that peaceful futures don't necessarily include spending it with the one you thought would always be there...

I don't normally do Evil Author Day, but this year, the idea struck my fancy. First, a thank you and recognition to Keira Marcos and Jilly James who have spearheaded the EAD annual event. Feb 15 is usually my favorite day of the year. Surpassing even Christmas.
Also, I suppose you could also consider this my proof of life.

When Han Solo screws up a supply run, Leia takes it upon herself to clean up his mess and ropes Jyn into a mission on Hosnian Prime, much to Cassian Andor's chagrin. There's no reason for him to worry about her, Jyn thinks. They're definitely just friends after all...but when Solo approaches Cassian with a plan to help, against his better judgment, he can't help but go along with the holo drama his life is turning into...

Jyn is finding her place in the Rebellion. The pathfinder missions, fighting, and explosions she gets. Her new friendship with an actual royal princess, who has no qualms about dragging Jyn into her schemes, comes as a surprise. Which is all fine and good, Jyn is flexible, but she could deal with less scrutiny into her relationship with a certain serious spy. Cassian and her are friends, and that's the end of that. There's no future for either of them beyond this war and they both know it. Being practical is just part of being a soldier.

“It’s very quiet here,” Jyn comments. “Is this place inhabited at all?”
“It should be,” Cassian replies, growing tense. “Our information is only months old. Unless something happened to clear the place out in a hurry?”
“Imperials?”
Cassian shrugs. “Maybe, but surely they’d leave stormtroopers behind to hold the area? Turn it into a checkpoint.”
She knows he’s right. It isn’t the Empire’s style to decimate an area without declaring themselves or at least leaving an obvious mark as a warning to others. This outpost is only on the other side of the ridge from the lab, the tallest parts of the building kissing the sky above. It would be a logical place to use as some kind of base or checkpoint as Cassian said.
“Something feels strange, I don’t like it.”
Surviving the battle of Scarif, Rogue One and its crew have been allocated as a specialist intelligence unit for the Rebellion. Sent on a mission to investigate the potential production of biological weapons by the Empire, Jyn and Cassian are about to discover there are more terrifying things in the galaxy than talking about their feelings...
