While the world grows steadily stranger, Derek finds himself growing closer to the being responsible for most of his suffering.Apparently, that feeling is mutual.

Of all the people on earth that Daniel would ever guess to be on the other side of a text like that? Alice is at the bottom of the list. She walked out on them, leaving a little girl alone with her junkie dad who didn't know how to cope without the love of his life. Why would it be her? That'd be insane.
(But of course, Armand knows he is insane. He has always been insane with the extremes to which he will go for the ones he loves. Daniel simply cannot recall that detail or so many others about their relationship. At least, not at the moment.)

Summary
The first story in this series, “Trade the Game You Know for Shelter,” can be read as a stand-alone. All of the pieces thereafter continue from the moment that first story leaves off and serve a broader plot that I’m in the process of building. Currently, the timeline covered across the existing stories is 4 September 1973 - early January 1974, but I have plans to take this series at least as far forward as 1980 in its internal timeline.

The Vampire Lestat's first tour ends in the month of September, 2025.
Daniel Molloy was expecting to spend his time sorting through the mess of interviews material for the documentary. He was expecting to get to know his maker again. He was looking forward to the Anniversary show that Lestat sprang on them for Halloween, in San Francisco. He was even looking forward to getting his daughters to speak to him again, if it were only to express their concerns on his mental well-being.
But then his daughter passes on a message from his 2nd ex-wife. The message? One he never expected.

Summary
Armand and Daniel's relationship continues into the 1980s in San Francisco. They are lovers after Daniel marries Alice and after he becomes a father. When Alice is out of town, Armand stays over to help Daniel with Kate and baby Lenora. They have moments of domestic bliss, but Daniel is desperately addicted to Armand's blood.
Decades later in Dubai, Daniel finds something unsettlingly familiar and alluring about Rashid.
“You’re the orange crayon.” Kate dumps out a box containing crayons, colored pencils, and fruit scented erasers onto the table. She pulls out a child’s size chair at her play table and looks at Armand with expectant eyes.
“You have to sit down.”
“Do I?” Armand stares down at the precocious seven year old. Kate nods.Armand looks at Kate’s innocent expression. She looks so much like Daniel in her face and mannerisms. And the same adorable head of curls.
