So, the problem at the hand was this:
Louis was not thinking of them as husbands anymore.
Lestat was desperate to get married and call Louis his husband.
Lestat couldn’t be the one to ask this time, considering how it ended in the past.
Louis had to be the one to propose, with his own free will, and actually be sure that he wanted Lestat.
Louis was not showing any signs that he was planning a proposal.
Thus the solution was:
Lestat needed to gently and subtly nudge his beloved boyfriend into realizing that the logical next step for their relationship was marriage.or
5 times Lestat drops hints to Louis that he wants to get married and 1 time he doesn't need to.
