However, one of the other adults with her on the mission betrays her and trades her to a Grounder village. Clarke must figure out where she belongs and who she is as she struggles with what her life looks like now. She finds that she enjoys the people of her village, but still feels torn between the people who want nothing to do with her anymore, and the people who she finds she wants to be with, including the village's leader, who is annoying and pushes all her buttons, but also has a depth to him that she hadn't expected.

I've changed this description a thousand times. None of them felt honest. I just wanted to read a story of broken people finding each other and dancing to good music in the middle of nowhere. I also wanted to figure out how to write about consuming love. The beginning isn't great, it slowly gets better. It's dramatic, extreme, a very unrealistic love story. But it is a love story. And there are a few lines that make me smile.

Other whispers talk about one person decades ago falling deeply into grief when the Chancellor at the time floated their soulmate, so deeply that they tried to kill the Chancellor and were floated as well. It's only when a spear pierces Jasper's chest that Clarke starts to think that maybe there's another reason why people don't find their soulmate on the Ark.
Earth is nothing like what she expected. River monsters, acid fog, a coalition of Grounders, Mountain Men. But she also never expected a soulmate like Bellamy Blake.
