I've already happily reread this like three times.Shane gets injured by Conway after the final horn and ends up with an intense concussion. His parents are in Mexico and so the Bears 'kidnap' him so Ilya can keep and eye on him while he recovers.
Cliff spins this into a prank on social media, and it goes kinda viral. Shane realizes that maybe other teams actually mean it when they say they're all friends and it kinda ends up being family, unlike the toxic mess back in Montreal.
After much agonizing, and flirting from the bears team, he waives his no trade and Farah gets to work.
Shane just watched a Boston v Admirals home game from the friends and family box.

Crowell and a reporter colluded to kind of put a hit in Ilya and Shane after the reporter was left to take the fall for outing them with a photo at the hospital. Harris and lawyer team take them the fuck down. Sveta steps in as new MHL commissioner.
Ilya and Shane are engaged and clinch a playoff spot in a 6-0 shutout against TOR.

Shane loves playing hockey but the pressure of being a center is just too much. A goalie coach at a summer camp suggests maybe changing his position could being the joy back into it.
Being a goalie may be less glamorous but the routines and allowances for quirks are exactly what he needs, even if it's a much less glamorous spot.
He's a damn good goalie, and Ilya respects it, he also thinks this little stat encyclopedia is kind of adorable when they meet at WJC.Mostly follows canon so far, but there are some peripheral changes that are having a big impact. I kind of love it. Also the author is an actual hockey nerd, which makes it so much better.

I absolutely adore goalie!Shane and all of his quirks and eccentricities. (I now have a deep need for an oarfish plushie) I'm also ND+queer and I love the way you portrayed the love between Ilya and Shane so much, the "freedom to exist as his whole self" hits so hard.Dear author: I don't know how hard the fandom speed-running toxicity has hit you, but I hope you are encouraged by all of us heaping love upon this story. You write differently than the big names that get passed around but your story and voice are no less special, thank you so much for sharing ❤️
