    Clive slides the bolt shut, muffled by another one of Cid’s unhappy grunts. Chewing on his lip, he turns and inhales slow; quiet. Strides up to the desk, rounding it as Cid wipes the quill on his ink blotter. The man’s movement almost trips Clive into hesitation. Somehow, he manages to push past it, pulse thrumming in his ears when Cid finally looks up, his ire melting into puzzlement.

    “Lad, what—?”

    Cursing his hands for the slight tremor, Clive cups Cid’s jaw, tilts his head up, and kisses him.

    Or, Clive wants to turn Cid's scowl into a smile, and gets a little more than he claims he bargained for, the little shit.
