Summary
Gideon would have held her breath and paused if by some miracle she managed to scrape together a do-over. Harrow probably would have, too, just to avoid having to say anything. Lapsed into a comfortable silence again with their fingers entwined the two of them could sit and stare and wait and wait and wait, witness their entire lives stretched elastic before them: St. Samael’s and the horror of the last week-and-a-half fading distantly into the horizon behind.
The stars currently floating above the elevator shaft were bright white and so sugary sweet they hurt Gideon’s teeth. No Southern Cross though— which sucked balls. She couldn’t really turn, either, to see if even a glimpse of it was visible from her second- (more likely third-) to-last resting place.
Okay, fine, pedantics: the place where Gideon Nav was most definitely going to die.

Gideon had no proof, but her gut told her that Cytherea was responsible for Sextus' death. If Harrow pursued his killer with the single-minded intensity that Gideon expected her to, then their paths were going to cross very soon.
"Text me," said Gideon. She was careful not to touch Harrow's skin with her own, lest she notice that Gideon was a little too cold, even for late winter. "I'll help with whatever stupid shit you're up to.”

Also I am not an expert on the Vatican or medical-type things, so please accept my apologies in advance for all the wild inaccuracies I am sure you are about to encounter.
