Heterophemize; To say something different than what you intended.
There was always something between Drew and Danny. Every last gaze where they locked eyes was always playing in Drew's mind. And he knew Danny felt something like it too since he kept coming back to the same old routine.
But there was always something different about the way Danny would say "I love you," as he never actually spoke those three words aloud to convey it. Drew could tell when he meant to say them, though. Every time Danny would pause for a minute to whisper "This feels wrong," Drew knew that Danny really meant that life had never felt more right, which is what truly felt wrong.

Drew was your average guy. He was tall and funny. Extremely funny. In fact, it was hard to spend more than a couple minutes with him without laughing so hard your stomach hurt. At least that’s what Danny always thought. Drew was also tremendously attractive on top of that. Again, at least that’s what Danny always thought.
But Drew was always quick to worry, having faced a lot of anxiety attacks in the past, which is why Danny couldn’t tell his best friend his deepest and most kept secret.
That he was the masked hero deemed a vigilante who swung through the city and stopped crime.
That he was Spider-Man.

Which would be a lot easier if Drew hadn't been madly in love with Danny for years now.

Danny Gonzalez and Drew Gooden were at an unfamiliar club for Kurtis Conner's birthday. But once Danny suddenly felt unwell and believed somebody spiked his drink, panic settled in. A night locked on a roof wasn't the ideal situation especially when Danny seemed to have no filter to his words, but maybe that was exactly what Drew needed for whatever he felt towards Danny to be set free.
