She has this path memorised by now.
The second right turn off of the main road, then the first left by the broken street light on Empire Street, slipping through a narrow alleyway and avoiding the collapsed drunkards to reach the looming apartment complex. It always looks intimidating at night, although Vi hasn’t seen it in daylight since the end of summer so she may need to reevaluate that. The building with its double-glazed windows lined with ornate external frames, multi-roomed apartments and a clean grey layer of paint over the bricks to highlight the entranceway on the bottom floor.
It’s always the same routine. Every other Friday night Vi makes this journey. Every other Friday night she returns home with bruises littering her body and smudged makeup and hurt feelings.

Summary
Caitlyn Kiramman has it all: the grades, the team, the boy. But her balance between her school and her social life is tipped off-kilter as old feelings for a new girl start to resurface at possibly the worst time ever.
West Piltover Academy seems like a breath of fresh air compared to Violet Harris’ last school- good sports and teachers, simple enough social hierarchy. She just needs to keep her head down and survive Year 13, which is pretty damn difficult when your childhood crush wants to befriend you again.
But it’s harder than it sounds to deal with resurfacing feelings, especially when narrow-minded people lurk around every corner.

Caitlyn Kiramman is a lot of things.
Grad school dropout. Disappointing daughter. Emotionally distant girlfriend. Massage therapist.
Miserable.
And maybe moving to the lower part of the city for her new job makes her more of a disappointment and adds to the distance, but it's been years since she was this excited for something.
