“Hey, kid,” says a voice from behind him.
Prompto turns, slowly, to face the two men. The one in the red hoodie is leaning against the wall, hands stuffed into his pocket. The other one looks him up and down. “Can I help you?” Prompto asks, cringing at the nerves obvious in his voice.
“Yeah,” the one in the red hoodie says casually. “Give us your backpack, huh?”
“C’mon, can’t we work this out?” Prompto asks, putting his hands up placatingly and trying for a wobbly smile.
The guy in the red hoodie raises an eyebrow, then pulls one of his hands from his pocket. Prompto’s stomach clenches with anxiety when he realizes the man’s brandishing a switchblade, waving it in Prompto’s direction. “Wasn’t really askin’, kid.”

“Mr Kennedy?” The doctor called, and Leon’s head slowly swivelled towards her.
“Hi.” He greeted a few seconds later, before his eyes landed on Claire and visibly widened.
“Hey mister.” She greeted with a smile, approaching the bed. The stunned look on his face only grew as she reached him, and her grin dropped slightly as he didn’t respond. “… You feelin’ okay?”
The silence stretched for several seconds before he finally responded, looking for all the world like he’d been hit around the head.
“Did… did it hurt?”
“What?” She replied, a little confused before he managed to blurt out the rest of his sentence.
“When you fell from heaven?”
“… Oh my god.”

Leon gets post-operative (temporary) amnesia after a minor surgery and falls for his wife all over again <3

A few seconds passed before his phone rang, and Leon’s confusion continued as he picked it up.
“Is she a good kid?” Chris’s voice came through the speaker and Leon fought the urge to reach through the phone and shake him for answers.
“Yes? Why?” He replied, finishing wiping down the kitchen counter with his phone held between his shoulder and ear.
“I’m transporting Rose somewhere for some tests in a few days and we’ll be travelling through your city on the way. Thought we could organise a playdate.”

“Hey, I’m going to bed. Don’t stay up too late, okay?” He rested a hand on her shoulder to make sure she heard, and felt distantly proud that she didn’t even flinch at his approach like she’d used to.
“Okay. Night, mom.” She mumbled, not even glancing up at him as her fingers flew across the keyboard.
Leon paused. It (somehow) wasn’t the first time she’d called him that, the first time being whilst in the midst of a panic attack so severe that she’d fainted, but he hadn’t brought it up since and she didn’t seem to remember.
“… Night, kid.” He squeezed her shoulder before heading off, hearing the frantic typing pause for a second before he just about heard the whispered,
“Oh my god.” that followed.

Summary
Leon Kennedy found a strange creature deep within an abandoned Umbrella faculty. At first, he isn't sure how to save it from a potential doom by bringing it to the surface, but he tries anyhow, obtaining a life-long companion in the process. He and his new companion may be strangers in the beginning, but both are much more alike than they realize.
This is a pilot chapter for a story from the POV of Leon's strange companion, a creature whose life has been nothing but pain and misery until Leon saved her.
