Summary
"Am I going to die?" Oscar asks, trying to push himself out of the car.
That question made sense to everyone, Oscar was worried about his injuries. That crash was horrible, it makes sense. Oscar could have died then.
He might've, if he was human.
But, Lando was the only one who understood the real meaning behind those words. Oscar is worried that McLaren will destroy him for failing. Simply move on to the next version like they have every time before.
The worst part is, Lando knows it's justified. McLaren has been looking for a reason to kill 'O.P. 8.1', and this might be it.
Or,
'Oscar Piastri 8.1' is McLaren's latest attempt at an android driver. Most versions were emotionless husks, designed to drive and nothing more. Lando, Oscar's newest engineer, decides to give him emotions.
Soon, they will both realize why McLaren hasn't given Oscar emotions.

“You’re not mad that I won right?” Max asks, seeming a little more put together.
Charles shrugs, looking at Max.
No, he isn’t Mad. A little bummed sure, jealous maybe. But not ‘mad’.
“Why would I be?” Charles asks, partly hiding his real feelings on the race, “You don’t get mad when I win.”
Max snorts, “Well, it doesn’t happen that often.”
Charles rolls his eyes with a hint of a smile still on his face, “Fuck off, I win races.”
“Less than I do schatje.”

Max wins a race that Charles was expected to win. Charles is trying his hardest to not let his jealousy get the better of him. A drunken confession from Max makes Charles realize that his boyfriend means so much more to him than one bad race.

Oscar sniffles, “I’ve thought about it you know, running away. Getting out of this life.”
“It’s all I think about,” Lando confesses, “I can’t let you marry her, I can’t sit and watch you get taken away.”
Oscar sighs, “Then why don’t we try?”

Oscar comes from a long line of successful Piastri men, all expected to be carbon copies of their fathers.
It's worked for generations. Though Oscar accidentally breaks the cycle when he realizes that he's gay. Specifically when he meets his fathers business partners son, Lando Norris.
They love each other, but it's 1959, so that should be impossible.
