But then Akutagawa bit down again.
And Atsushi moaned.
Oh, god, he'd moaned.
Immediately, the two of them both froze up completely. Atsushi wanted to curl up in a hole and die after something as mortifying as that. Akutagawa hadn't even done anything aside from bite him, he wasn't sure why the noise slipped out but it had. And there was no changing it.

Akutagawa is stricken by a sudden urge to bite Atsushi's neck. Atsushi agrees, and then things end up escalating when they didn't think it would.

As he creeps through their dark apartment, Akutagawa's feet drag across the floor. A full day of overseeing market deals and an unexpected gang threatening the Black Lizards. Akutagawa couldn't let bugs undermine his squadron like that so discipline was obviously necessary. His bones and muscles ache for his partner now. The coat on his back feels heavy and at 2am, but the dirt and grime from the day can wait until tomorrow morning.
One year ago, Akutagawa had never dreamed of homesickness, but when he opens the bedroom door to Atsushi reading by the lamplight in bed, he is home.
---Akutagawa comes home late to Atsushi still awake and reading. Just some feel good bedtime cuddles~

The boy holds his hand and brings it close, unable to part with his friend for long. He doesn’t have a pulse – never has, which doesn’t help reassure him at all. He can’t be certain that his friend is even there anymore until he gives a sign.
“Hat Guy… you have to wake up, okay? There’s so many people worried about you, waiting for you. I’m waiting for you, too. I…I don’t know what I’ll do without you. So please come back to us...”
As if responding to his words, Hat Guy’s fingers twitch in his hold.
Durin’s anxiety turns to joy. “H-hat Guy! Are you-“
Hat Guy blinks at him. “...Who are you?”

Checking into a hotel with Blade had certainly not been on Dan Heng’s to-do list when he first stepped out onto Planarcadia, but with how often Trailblazing missions went awry, Dan Heng figured that this little detour was just par for the course.
Going off on his own to find Blade was reasonable…necessary, even.
Staying with Blade, even while he was resting for the day and in all likelihood would be doing little but sleeping?
Well. Not even Dan Heng could fully justify his choice in his head with reasons that sounded more logical rather than personal, though that did not stop him from trying.

Blade and Dan Heng are forced to share a hotel room and confront all the things left unsaid between them.
