The were-tiger waves him off. “It’s fine. Stop hovering.”
“I’m not hovering—”
But Atsushi obviously isn’t listening. His eyes are fluttering closed, despite his apparent efforts to fight sleep. He sways a bit as his eyelids slide closed. Atsushi slumps to the side, landing against Ryuunosuke’s shoulder. Ryuunosuke freezes, but the were-tiger appears to already be asleep and, therefore, blissfully unaware of where he’d chosen to fall unconscious. The mafioso simply watches the younger boy for a moment, taking in the softness of his expression. It’s warm, Ryuunosuke realizes. Of course, he’s always known that Atsushi is a warm, gentle soul. And yet, something about this moment feels different. -

Book 2 in the "Our Destiny" Series.
Its been six months since Dazai and Chuuya had gotten back together. After taking down the organization after Chuuya, they were able to enjoy their relationship, even though Hasegawa had escaped.
Everything seemed to be getting better for the detective and mafioso. Dazai officially moved in with Chuuya, the two finally getting to be together after dealing with difficult trials.
But their trials aren't over yet.
There have been a series of reports about the dead coming back to life with no indication they had died at all.
Not only that, they undertake a new challenge after Chuuya finds something in their bedroom that will change the pair's lives forever.

AU: The Port Mafia are a gang association while The Armed Detective Agency are a special unit within the FBI. They do not have abilities in this AU. They are regular people. Dazai used to be a mafia boss, but currently works as an FBI agent. Akutagawa stalks Dazai's whereabouts when he is informed that Dazai is an FBI agent now. Akutagawa's shenanigan leads to a phone call with Dazai and it progresses from there on out.
Added UA due to Dazai finding Akutagawa at age 15 while he was 19 (not the current plot. Akutagawa is 19-20 and Dazai is 23-24).

Being stuck in an elevator with Nakahara Chuuya, meeting Dazai there, and seeing him literally dragging away Chuuya like that was definitely not what he was expecting. How it ended up like this? He has no idea. He do, however, knows what made him regret everything - listening to Ranpo's advice and following his Senpais secretly (in hopes of preventing the bloodshed, but little did he know about the plot twist)

Dazai was sick. Not suffering from a long-lasting flu, as he had initially thought, but something far more bizarre and all too detrimental. And because of Dazai’s negligence towards his own health, Dazai had lost his ability. Chuuya nearly died by the hands of Corruption that day – nearly died because he trusted Dazai to come and save him.
Dazai no longer cared about his own comfort, about his own future or potential happiness. If it meant giving Chuuya some semblance of a life meant for an eighteen-year-old, if it meant keeping him safe from the Port Mafia's harsh treatment, Dazai could pay the necessary price. He was willing to sell his shabby soul to the Monster in front of him. “Mori-san, you want me to take over your position one day, am I right?”
Or; freshly turned eighteen, Double Black finally get some well-deserved vacation, and spend the last months of summer in Vienna, where they realize their one-sided pining had been mutual all along.

Summary

Finally, at 22, he unintentionally falls for the other victim that was left in the wake of Dazai's destruction, the Port Mafia's Hellhound. He learns to love another man again.
