Rey stays busy as a nanny, living and working (and paying off debt) at a fancy estate on Kingstree Island, SC. But one Sunday evening, free and a little bored, she crashes a wealthy neighbor's beach party. She enjoys the harmless outing until she catches the eye of an elite guest. Even then, a brief flirtation would only be a fun, unusual memory to take home with her... But he steps on a piece of glass on the beach, and Rey is too practical (and kind) to leave him to it. It's only when his arm is around her shoulders, and he asks her to help him hobble back to his house, that she realizes Ben is actually her absentee-employer. He is Adele's father, who she hasn't actually met yet, other than phone interviews.
Ben is more amused than horrified that he accidentally hit on Adele's nanny. But he's done a lot of work on himself and he's determined to be both a better dad and a better person. He'll be professional with Rey. Except that he has to hide a lot more than an inconvenient attraction. She doesn't know she's the sole normie in a house currently housing two selkies, a cyclops, a werewolf, and a vampire.
Ben tries, but how long can a selkie resist the instinct to give his heart away?
