"Buck?" He asked, quietly.
The man didn't even glance at him. It pissed him off. Buck disappeared for a whole year, then had the audacity to act like he didn't know him?
He approached the counter, taking one of the available seats. Up close it was obvious, Buck was right in front of him.
The blonde approached him, not a hint of recognition in his eyes as he smiled. He had a name tag on his uniform, Derek. "What can I do for ya?" That accent sounded wrong on Buck, it wasn't being used to tease Eddie. It seemed so natural Eddie wanted to gag.

Buck's eyes widened in surprise and Eddie swore he heard his breath hitch.
"Thanks." Buck mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck as blush crept in. "But I should go- Class and all that. Uh, enjoy. Or don't. I gotta go."
Eddie watched him leave, standing in the same spot he'd first seen Buck and left with more questions than answers.

It was supposed to be a good day.
"Diaz! Need someone on that ladder!" Bobby shouted over the pouring rain.
"On it, Cap!" Buck replied, already making his way up.
Flames soared high out of the building's shattered windows, rampaging despite the extensive downpour of ice cold rain.
Surely it's common knowledge that metal is an excellent conductor of electricity. Metal has plenty of free atoms for lightning to bond with and Buck was practically begging to be struck just standing on top of that ladder.
