The research scientist Dr. Gregory Hayfield sneaks onto a life pod for "purely work-related reasons" and is accidentally launched towards the Gray Planet along with a Milky. The man has no love for the Milky or its kind but knows that without their help, the [Unknown]s of Experiments on the planet will kill him through attrition and numbers. Gregory quickly comes up with a plan: convince the Milky they were both chosen by the company as an elite duo meant to complete the Cargo Retrieval mission and stop more Sawians from being sent to the planet.
The Milky doesn't realize just how dangerous their podmate is, yet.
Neither does Gregory.

Kestrelflight has more than a few problems. For one, a gray-furred medicine cat has seemingly invaded every corner of his life. In dreams and in waking, the very world has been painted in shades of powder blue; the icy iridescence of his unseeing eyes that see in the most profound way. Incessantly smug and effortlessly charming when he has no right to be, he's determined to become the most constant presence in his life; and the WindClan cat would loathe to admit that maybe, just maybe, he wants to be there for him too.
Of course, Kestrelflight's also clueless. He doesn't know why Jayfeather's grown from the annoying thought at the back of his mind to something that keeps him up at night. It could be StarClan's own prophetic nonense, bidding him to follow that blind tom to the very ends of the earth. It could also be a poisoned Moonpool, pulling him into its stagnant waters, surrounding him with the scent of hemlock and rosemary until every pawstep begs him to turn back.
Still, he'd be lying if the way his heart pounded hadn't led him forward, if the way gravity bent towards the trespasser into his dreams hadn't felt like an inevitability.

In another time, Firepaw the apprentice has just become Fireheart, warrior of ThunderClan, and is ready to defend his adopted clan from any threat - be it rogues, enemy warriors, or even their own scheming deputy. On the night of his vigil, he isn't sure what to expect, but it definitely isn't the mysterious cat who emerges from the forest.
