Rukia was used to scolding Renji, being unmovable in front of him, being tough, bossy and firm. If she wasn't, they wouldn't be there, at the academy, looking for better things. It was her idea to get there, seek a new life and no longer drag their own shadows over the sinister paths of Inuzuri.
And if she had a better life with the Kuchiki, how could she blame Renji for letting her go? This opportunity had only been given to her and not to him. She was fulfilling the purpose that had brought them to the academy in the first place: to seek a life that didn't need to be survived.
